JAMMU, Dec 7: As part of health awareness campaign, Dr. Vikas Padha, Senior Consultant Orthopedics and Joint Replacement of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspecialty Hospital, Kakryal (SMVDNSH) today impressed upon the senior citizens to adopt active life style and avoid stressful activities of knee joints like sitting cross legged, squatting, climbing stairs to prevent knee problems.
Delivering second Health Talk under the aegis of Central Govt Pensioners Welfare Association, Jammu and Retired Officers Forum here today, Dr. Padha also advised the citizen to reduce body weight and said that 1 kg of reducing body weight means 4 kg of less stress on knees.
He also apprised the pensioners in detail about the total knee replacement surgery including the Oxynium Knee with life of about 30 years which is being performed frequently at SMVDNSH, Katra.
During active interaction, Dr. Padha clarified many doubts and misinformation about total knee replacement surgery.
He also threw light on prevention of shoulder pain and other ailments.
His mantra for remaining healthy was to do regular exercise that would strengthen knee and shoulder muscles and minimize chances of knee and shoulder ailments.
Among those who attended today’s Talk included Kuldeep Khoda, former DGP & CVC.
He also examined over 20 pensioners who had orthopedic problems and given treatment.
