DODA, Dec 8: The residents held protest against Department of Fire and Emergency Services and District Administration for their casual approach to initiate immediate action to douse the fire, in which a building housing 8 shops got gutted in Jakyas area of the district last night.
A large number of residents hailing from Jakyas, Pingle, Budhli, Tendla, Batyas and Mailk Pura areas of Sub District Gandoh led by senior congress leader and Former Minister Mohammad Sharief Niaz assembled at Bhatyas on Gandoh-Doda road and held protest. They also blocked the vehicular movement on the Gandoh-Doda road.
They raised slogans against the District Administration particularly Department of Fire and Emergency Services for their failure to initiate prompt action to douse the fire, which erupted in a building at Jakyas late last night.
The residents said that the fire tenders failed to reach the spot due to which the building comprising of 8 shops got completely damaged in fire.
After getting information, ACR Doda Choudhary Dil Mir reached the spot and assured the protestors of initiating enquiry into the incident and punishment to the guilty.
On the assurance, the protestors dispersed and vehicular movement was restored on Gandoh-Doda road.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Doda Anshul Garg has ordered enquiry into this fire incident. A committee has been framed, which will conduct enquiry into the whole incident. The committee will enquire about the probable cause of fire, ascertain the extent of damage to the property and relief proposed thereof and recommendation to avoid any such incidents in future.
Kishori Lal Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner Doda has been appointed as Chairman of the committee, while Manjit Singh, Tehsildar Chilli Pingal, Athar Amin, BDO Jakyas and Girdhari Lal Pandita, Assistant Director, Department of Fire and Emergency Services Doda as members of the committee.
The committee has been directed to submit the report within 10 days.
