NEW DELHI, Dec 12: ISRO Moon mission, Chandrayan 2, is planned for early 2019, to be launched by the first quarter of the year. The important Lunar mission will be launched by GSLV MK-III and will carry Orbiter, Lander and Rover.
This was disclosed here today in a reply by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh in response to a question in the Lok Sabha.
Pertinent to mention that the earlier and the first Lunar Mission of ISRO, Chandrayan-I had discovered the presence of water on the surface of the Moon, which was a new revelation for the entire world.
The second Lunar mission Chandrayan-2, scheduled for the first quarter of next year, will carry out extensive studies about the various aspects related to Moon.
In the reply, it was also stated that in the last few months, ISRO has launched a number of important satellites. These include 29 foreign satellites from 14 countries including UK, France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, Chili, Japan, Lithuania, Slovakia and Latvia.
Other recently launched satellites include 59 co-passenger satellites in addition to High Resolution Satellite Carto-2F, IRNSS-11 Navigation Satellite, Nova-SAR, a high throw-put communication satellite GSAT-29, a Hyper-spectral Imaging Satellite HysIS and India’s biggest communication satellite GSAT-11.
Also launched in the recent months were 30 co-passenger satellites from foreign countries including Australia, USA, Canada, Columbia, Finland, Malaysia, Netherlands and Spain.
