JAMMU, Dec 12: 3rd Additional Sessions Judge Jammu Haq Nawaz Zargar today awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 20,000 to Jamna Dass, who committed rape with eight years old minor girl. The court also awarded compensation of Rs 3 lakh to the victim.
After hearing APP Sulekha Bhat for the State whereas Advocate GS Charak for the accused, the court observed, “reformation of a criminal shall be the primary goal of administration of criminal justice. Keeping in view the age of convict, ends of justice would be meted out in case convict namely Jamna Dass is sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for ten years for the commission of offence under Section 376 RPC”.
