JAMMU, Dec 13: Motor Parts Dealers Association (MPDA), Transport Nagar/ISBT Narwal has urged Governor SP Malik to issue directions to the concerned authorities for removal of illegal encroachments from Transport Nagar, Jammu.
In a meeting of the association held here today under the presidentship of Rajinder Kakkar, the dealers discussed various issues and problems being faced by them in Transport Nagar. The participants said the Transport Nagar was established in 1990 and developed by JDA but nothing has been done after the establishment regarding the cleanliness of blocked drains and black topping of roads and lanes of all seven yards.
Stating that many kiosks have came up illegally on road sides and a vast area have been illegally encroached by the scrap dealers and unauthorized illegal parking of junked trucks, buses, oil tankers and cars, they urged the Governor SP Malik to issue directions for a joint regular anti-encroachment drive of Traffic police, JDA and JMC in all seven yards of Transport Nagar.
They said, “We need to get NOC from JDA to get loans from financial institutions and bankers, which is a very hard and lengthy process. So, please issue directions to free hold rights in favour of the allotted shopkeepers as per nominal charges”.
The MPDA also urged the authorities to shift the trucks terminal to Raya Morh, Banihal routes buses’ terminal to Khanpur (Nagrota) and Poonch Route Buses’ terminal to Akalpur as the JDA has developed all the three terminals and handed over the same to civil administration in May 2013.
MPDA president also drew the attention of the authorities towards the nallah adjoining to Yard No 1, the base of which was washed away and the water of the nallah is seeping in the plinths of the shops. He urged the authorities to immediately repair the nallah.
