LEH, Dec 15: The newly appointed Rector of the Satellite Campus, Leh, Prof Farooq Ahmad Khan today called on Chief Executive Councilor/Chairman LAHDC, Leh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal at Council Secretariat Leh and had a detailed deliberation aimed at to strengthen Satellite Campus, Leh so that students from humble background who cannot afford to pursue courses outside Ladakh could be benefited.
Welcoming the Rector for taking new responsibility in Leh, Namgyal hoped that under his leadership the Satellite Campus, Leh, would amicably streamline by resolving all the issues and problems.
The CEC and Rector had a lengthy discussion about various measures which are needed to be taken to put Leh Campus on right track. Other important points like introduction of potentially relevant subjects and diploma courses also came into limelight. Namgyal stressed on bringing satisfying results through the campus in the coming days and assured all possible support from Council so that Leh Campus could emerge as one of the best Campuses in India.
Prof Farooq Ahmad Khan apprised CEC that at present Satellite Campus Leh offers four courses including Geology, Geography, English and Tourism. He also told CEC that he had met with DC/CEO Leh, Joint Director Education Ladakh, Principal Food Craft Institute Leh, Vice President LBA Ladakh and Director Ladakh Arts and Media Organisation (LAMO) and discussed about potential subjects and skill development programs that could be introduced at the Leh campus.
Professor Farooq Ahmad Khan has more than 35 years of teaching, research and administrative experience to his credit. Khan has held very important positions in the University over the years which include Director, Centre for Career Planning and Counselling (CCPC) and Coordinator NSS. He is the recipient of Indira Gandhi NSS Award with a citation.
