JAMMU, Dec 17: SOS International, an organisation of displaced persons from PoK has alleged that reservation to Pahari speaking people is politically motivated.
Addressing a large gathering of protesting PoK DPs at Maheshpura Chowk here today, chairman of the organisation Rajiv Chuni alleged that recent move of State Government in which 3 % reservation was extended to Pahari Speaking people of the State was a politically motivated as the real beneficiaries i.e. PoK Displaced Persons who are by clan Paharis haven’t been incorporated in ambit of reservation. He described it as yet another discriminatory move to deprive PoK DPs of their legitimate right. Click here to watch video
SOS International leader said that the recent move of Government of extending reservation to Pahari speaking people proved that it has nothing to do with wellbeing of the PoK DPs. “The real beneficiaries who belong to hilly terrains of Mirpur, Muzaffarabad and Poonch kept away from the ambit of reservation is a clear indication that how serious is Government to resolve our problems and causes. It is quite surprising that a large community who by birth are Paharis, moreover, who has sacrificed its all and faced invaders are given step motherly treatment,” he added.
He furthered said that PoK DPs are put in another mental trauma. This is the 4th generation of PoK DPs who is expecting some sigh of relief but Government’s out of logic decisions have put them in another trauma. He further said that if the process of providing justice continues in such a biased manner then, we will be left with no option but to launch unprecedented struggle, he added.
