Kargil observes shut down to protest University in Leh

KARGIL, Dec 17: Alleging step motherly treatment with Kargil, this frontier district observed a complete shut down on the call of powerful religious organization Anjuman Jamiyat Ullama Kargil, during which all the shops and other business establishment remained closed and the roads wore a deserted look.
According to a spokesperson of the organization, the call was given to protest the decision of the Governor J&K Satya Paul Malik to open Cluster University for Ladakh at Leh and the continuing step motherly treatment with Kargil by the Government.
Meanwhile an all party meeting was called by the Acting Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC Kargil, Nasir Hussain Munshi at the Council Secretariat to decide the future course of action for supporting the demand for University at Kargil as well as Divisional Status Headquartered at Kargil.
The meeting was attended by all the religious, political and social organizations of Kargil and they provided there valuable suggestions.
Later, during a press conference, Acting CEC Nasir Hussain Munshi announced formation of an action committee under the leadership of the religious organizations to decide the future course of action.
