Forest Conservator chairs Grazing Committee meet

SAMBA, Dec. 17: The meeting of Grazing Area Allotment Committee of Samba district was held today under the Chairmanship of B. Mohandass, Conservator of Forests East Circle Jammu, Chairman of the Grazing Area Allotment Committee Samba.
The Committee discussed the allotment of grazing areas to the Gujjars, Bakerwals and Gaddies in Samba district for winter season of the year 2018-19. The meeting was attended by Abinav Ramyotra, DFO Samba, Range Officers, Forest frontline staff and non official members including Ch. Nazim-ud-Din Khatana, Mohd Farid, Mukhtair Ahmed, Mohd Azarn tJureshi, Mohd Sadiq Kissana and Mohd lqbal Phambda as well as number of seasonal graziers from Purmandal & Mohargarh Forest Ranges.
While speaking on the occasion, B. Mohandass issued instructions for constitution of subcommittee in every Forest Range comprising of allottee grazers as member to ensure removal of brushwood fencing, forest fire prevention and prevention of encroachment from forest areas and also directed that allottee grazers will also share responsibility for any incidents of Fire/Damage/ Encroachment in his Grazing Allotment Area and will assist in containing forest fire, forest damage and attempt to encroach upon foiest land.
Besides this, he also issued instruction to the field staff regarding enumeration of live stocks of allottees and constitution of a committee to assess wildlife attack related incidents in the Samba district. The Conservator of Forests East Circle also stressed upon training related to lantana eradication be given to Nomadic grazers to eradicate lantana by cut root stock method.
The DFO Samba, while addressing the gathering, said that the effort has been made so that marginal and poor graziers are given fair and proportional allocation. He also requested grazers to help department to control forest fires in coming fire season. He stressed upon the prohibition of construction of Pacca Daras/Structures within allotted area in Forest land.
