UDHAMPUR, Dec 17: A young girl committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at her residence near Khu Nallah while a man ended his life by hanging himself in his cattle shed at village Kultyar in Panchari while a youth was found dead in forest area in Chenani here today.
According to the Police report, Shashi Devi (17), daughter of Kartar Chand of Khu Nalla Udhampur consumed some poisonous substance under mysterious circumstances at her house, this evening. The family members rushed her to District Hospital Udhampur. Despite hectic efforts by the doctors, she did not respond to the treatment and died around 9:40 pm.
The body was sent for postmortem while Udhampur Police has registered the case for further investigation. Cause of provocation behind the extreme step could not be ascertained.
In a separate incident, a man was found hanging in his cattle shed at village Kultyar in Panchari.
The deceased was identified as Kapoor Chand (40), son of Lashu Ram of village Kultyar tehsil Panchari.
Meanwhile, Kud Police today recover a dead body from Kud National Highway. The deceased was identified as Sagar Chand (21), son of Om Parkash of Madha. He was found dead in forest area Guljar in Chenani.
