JAMMU, Dec 18: Sub Judge/ Special Mobile Magistrate Amit Sharma today rejected the bail applications of five persons, who were allegedly involved in Rs one crore robbery case.
The accused are Vikas Talwar, son of Rajesh Talwar of Ramban, Varun Singh, son of Popinder Singh of Samba, Yogesh Salgotra, son of Mohan Lai of Greater Kailash, Gourav Kumar, son of Lekh Raj Singh of UP and Ajay Kumar Pal, son of Bhawar Singh of UP.
After hearing CPO Vikrant Sharma for the State whereas Advocates Pardeep Magotra and TN Gupta for the accused persons, the court observed, “bail cannot be claimed as a matter of right in non-bailable offence and there is no hard and fast rule which can be applied in consideration of bail matter”.
“The incident of robbery on the National Highway that too during night is definitely a matter of serious concern where the interest of society at large is involved. If such type of incidents are encouraged on the National Highway then it becomes difficult for an ordinary person to move on the National Highway along with kith and kin”.
With these observations, court denied the bail.
“How huge amount of Rs 1 crore transported in a van of the company under the pretext of samples is a serious question which too requires investigation simply on this count that on one hand Government of India made every possible efforts by way of demonetization in the year 2016 to unearth the black money and on the other hand this type of incidents clearly reflects that how these companies are again indulging in hoarding their unaccounted money by way of this methodology”, the court said.
