KATHUA, Dec 19: The District Administration, Kathua sealed an illegally operating stone crusher at the bank of Bhinni Nallah in Billawar Sub Division of district Kathua this evening.
Official sources said that on the direction of the District Magistrate, Kathua, Rohit Khajuria, a team of officers led by Tehsildar Billawar, Dr Vishal Parihar, DMO Kathua, BR Bhagat and SHO Billawar, Naresh Sharma with some police men, conducted raid in the premises of M/S Sheetla Stone Crusher, set up just closer to Bhinni bridge on Billawar- Basohli Road this evening.
The owner Manohar Lal and manager of the unit, failed to produce required documents/NOCs before the officers on the spot. Then, the team sealed the unit in presence of Ist Class Magistrate. The power supply to the unit was also snapped. He was directed not to operate the unit till further orders.
A senior officer said that the unit has been causing threat to the survival of this vital bridge. They have raised large dumps of finished material just closer to the bridge. The owner has been directed to clear the area near the bridge and also produce relevant documents within two days. It may be recalled that this is the bridge whose one portion and approach road were damaged during floods in the recent past leading to closure of this road for few days, the officer said.
