JAMMU, Dec 21: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today alleged that both BJP and PDP deceived the people of the State by hollow slogans and false promises just to enjoy power but now people of this State are politically awakened and mature enough to see through their game plan.
While addressing public meeting at Babliana in Gandhi Nagar area here today, Bhalla said despite contradictions and bickering on all sensitive issues, these two parties remained together just for the sake of enjoying power. He said the previous Government created mistrust and uncertainty all around and even their continuance throughout the tenure remained full of uncertainty. They can not divert attention of the people from their total failure.
Bhalla said the Coalition Government which was in the State, pushed the State into Governor rule. Neither the people of the State are responsible for it, nor the Congress party. He cautioned the people not to fall prey to the falsehood and divisive propaganda of the BJP and other forces over various current controversies.
Senior Congress leader said that Congress was prepared for Assembly elections and expressed hope that Congress will emerge victorious as cheated and betrayed people of the State by previous PDP-BJP Government are now clear in their mind to give mandate to Congress as they have realized that PDP-BJP Coalition miserably failed to live up to the expectations of the people.
While criticizing BJP, Bhalla said that agenda of alliance was nothing but an eye wash for the people and added that BJP has taken Jammu and Ladakh forgranted and has failed to recognize the developmental priorities and represent the aspirations of the people. He said that BJP failed to represent the sentiments and deliver the promises it made to the electorates and has been merely indulging in rhetoric to emotionally charge the people for their political interests. He said the concern of people of the State and the entire nation is restoration of peace and normalcy by containing militancy in Kashmir valley and to address the current unrest there.
