JAMMU, Dec 22: A delegation of Ex-Servicemen (ESM) under the president of Jammu and Kashmir Ex-Services League (JKESL), Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, today met Financial Commissioner, Pawan Kotwal and took up Fauji Colony issues with him.
Maj Gen Jamwal reminded the Finance Commissioner that the cases of land acquisition for the ex-servicemen is pending for last two decades, in spite of Government approval, land award orders and repeated assurance by almost all previous CMs, Div Commissioners and concerned DDCs.
The delays and hurdles are caused for one reason or the other and it is largely administrative procedures or inaction that was responsible for this unfair harassment to some six thousand ESM amounting to a population of about 40,000 family members who have paid in advance for the land and money held in Government Treasury. The poor ESM and widows have not even been paid interest for their hard earned saved earnings in a hope of owning a shelter.
Pawan Kotwal assured the delegation of expediting the matters that fall in his domain. He also apprised the delegation that he will instruct the DDCs to help the Government pleaders to hasten up the cases that are sub-judice in various courts to clear the hurdles in transfer of land to JKESL for further allotment to the member ESM, War Widows and some serving soldiers.
