JAMMU, Dec 22: The state of J&K has been conferred prestigious SKOCH Order-of-Merit Award under Ease of Doing Business category for Single Window (Industrial Investment and Business Facilitation) Act, 2018.
The award was conferred during the 55th SKOCH Summit- “The Economic Manifesto” organized at the Constitution Club of India, in New Delhi.
Dr Ravi Shankar Sharma, Director, Industries & Commerce, Jammu received the award on behalf of Principal Secretary to Government of J&K, Industries & Commerce Department.
The initiative by Industries and Commerce Department of J&K was rated as the best among the top 100 nominated projects. Awards were given by a professional panel of experts and the function was adorned by an array of dignitaries including Suresh Prabhu, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Deepender Singh Hooda, Member, Lok Sabha, Dr Arvind Mayaram, former Secretary, Economic Affairs, Government of India.
Dr Ila Patnaik, Professor, National Institute of Public Finance and Policy, Wajahat Abibullah, Ex- Chief Information Commissioner and former Chairman, National Commission for Minorities, etc were also present to discuss the various framework, including Economic Manifesto, Deciphering digital economy policy and Ambassadors of Soft Power of India. These sessions were moderated by Sameer Kocher, Chairman, SKOCH Group and Dr Gursharan Dhanjal, MD & Editor, SKOCH Group.
J&K Single Window (Industrial Investment and Business Facilitation) Act, 2018, under the flagship program of Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) taken by Government of India in furtherance of Make in India campaign, aimed at comprehensive and unprecedented overhaul of the out-dated processes and procedures involved in setting up and operation of businesses across India. The Business reforms laid by Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP) under Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) pertain to different stakeholders/departments.
The Act aims at simplification and rationalizing of existing State procedures thus making ‘doing business’ in the State much easier and to create a hassle-free business friendly environment in the State of Jammu and Kashmir. With the enactment of Single Window Act, the State has developed the Single Window Portal www.investjk.in, on which the investor will be provided all the pre-establishment and pre-operational clearances necessary for setting up of New Business/Renewal of registrations.
The State has also laid emphasis on providing clearances in online only mode for all the applications through this Act in a time bound manner.
