JAMMU, Dec 24: The Vijeshwar Panchang (Almanac) for the year 2019-2020 was released at Vijaeshwar Panchang Karyalya, Gole Gujral near here, today by Swami Kumar Ji of Geeta Satsangh Ashram.
On the occasion, Sampadak of the Panchang, Bushan Lal Shastri and Jyotshi Avtar Krishan Shastri besides some religious and social activists were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Swami Kumar Ji highlighted the role of Vijeshwar Panchang which he said is a household granth of Kashmiri Pandits. He said the Panchang has played a great role in continuing the link of the community separated from their homeland, Kashmir and living in different parts of globe to their roots.
He said great work has been done by the then editor and publisher of the Panchang late Pt Prem Nath Shastri which was continued by Pt Omkar Nath Shastri its chief editor and Bushan Lal Shastri and Jyotshi Avatar Krishan Shastri.
Speaking on the occasion both Shastris said that they will continue the legacy and bring some new changes in the Panchang which can be beneficial to the younger generations.
They said special write ups have been carried in the new Panchang on Kashmiri culture and traditions for the benefit of younger generations. The Shalokas of various granths carried in the Panchang for the benefit of devotees have been given with meaning for younger generation to understand, they added.
