JAMMU, Dec 24: Gujjar leader Shamsher Hakla Poonch appealed to the Governor Satya Pal Malik to issue ordinance before the upcoming J&K Assembly elections for the reservation of assembly segments for Gujjar-Bakarwal Schedule Tribe (ST) Community in the J&K.
Hakla in a statement here today said the political reservation was compulsory for the Gujjars Bakarwals of J&K who have been already given ST status by Government of India in the year 1991.
“Due to indifferent attitude of the previous Governments in the J&K, Gujjars and Bakarwals community remained deprived of their political reservation right”, he said and hoped that Governor will surely pass ordinance in favour of Gujjar and Bakerwal community.
