Hold elections of BDC, DPDB: BJP

JAMMU, Dec 27: BJP has demanded holding of Block Development Council (BDC) and District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) at the earliest in the State.
A demand in this regard was made by BJP Panchayati Raj Cell, State convenor, Anil Sharma while addressing media persons here, today. BJP State incharge All Cells, S. Varinderjeet Singh and Panchayati Raj Cell team member, Raj Kumar were also present in the press conference.
Sharma said that three tier process is required to be followed for real strengthening of grass root level democracy and these are elections of Panchayats, elections of BDC and DPDB. The first phase has been completed and now second and third phase should also be completed. He said that Panchayats are incomplete without holding of BDC and DPDB and hence it should be undertaken as soon as possible, so that the public is benefitted in the real sense.
Sharma said that BJP has always taken stand for the strengthening of these institutions in the past and in the State it is only due to the strong will of BJP leaders that the local elections could be held whether they were Urban Local Bodies elections or Panchayat elections.
