JAMMU, Dec 28: Former Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti’s statement questioning the arrests of militants and linking the arrest of 10 persons to forthcoming elections, has invited sharp reaction from BJP. Lashing out at Mehbooba’s statement, the former Deputy Chief Minister & senior BJP leader, Kavinder Gupta in a statement here, today said, it was very unfortunate on the part of such senior politicians to issue misleading statements which are hostile to the process of peace and national interests.
Kavinder Gupta said, after the withdrawal of support by the BJP,  former PDP legislators and its senior leaders are joining other political organisations and  have come out openly against  their own party chief for promoting nepotism and siding with Hurriyat leaders.
“Such statements are the outcome of her failure in handling the affairs of the State in an impartial manner and thus denying the due share of development to all the three regions, which was the core issue of the alliance partners, clearly mentioned in the Agenda of Alliance. Moreover she created a sense of confusion and regional divide among the people,” he further said.
She is frustrated and it is heartening that after remaining the Chief Minister of the State, she is questioning the arrests of the persons with huge arms, ammunition and other material by NIA. She wants to polarise the situation in Valley and Gupta continued on saying that any one supporting anti- national activists should be questioned by NIA. Although, he said it is the prerogative of the NIA to take action against such persons, but my views are that anyone who promotes such type of ideology should be considered by NIA for questioning, Kavinder pointed out.
The former Dy CM suggested Mehbooba Mufti that she shouldn’t be worried about the situation of J&K and question the arrests  and linking further with the election season , as the  BJP led Central Government was very much concerned about the State and was regularly monitoring the day to day activities here besides taking the requisite measures.
