JAMMU, Dec 28: The indefinite chain dharna started by the SOS International, an organization for Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) Displaced Persons (DPs), entered second day, today.
Led by Prof N N Sharma, five other DPs namely Rajiv Amla, Dharamvir Dutta, Rajesh Suri, Kesar Singh and Satinder Dev Gupta today sat on chain dharna against alleged discriminatory approach of Government during dealing with the issues of PoK DPs, who lost their everything during tribal invasion in their erstwhile ancestral places.
The demands of SOS International are implementation of whole package passed by State Cabinet in October 2014 for PoK DPs, providing facilities to all displaced people at par with Valley migrants, reservation of 8 seats for people displaced from PoK in J&K Legislative Assembly, permission to PoK DPs to visit to their religious places in PoK, inclusion of 5,300 PoK DPs families living outside the State in the ambit of package passed in October 2014 and return of cash deposits with interest to PoK DPs lying with J&K Bank Mirpur.
“PoK DPs have been waiting for justice and resolution of their demands but unfortunately they have not been provided with absolute justice but on the contrary, they are being duped by one or other hostile forces,” Prof Sharma said while addressing the media. He added that PoK DPs are the most unfortunate community in the whole world that does not have their respective Parliamentary and Assembly segments.
He further stated that the preamble of constitution of India and State promise equality to all the citizens of the country but it is missing while dealing with cause of PoK DPs. For valley migrants, Government has opened its Pandora box but it has shown the slavish facet while dealing with PoK DPs, said the refugee leader.
