JAMMU, Dec 29: A meeting of Batwal Community was held here today under the chairmanship of ex-Naib Sarpanch, Ram Lal Lakhotra.
Speakers in the meeting appealed to the Governor, Satya Pal Malik to declare Guru Gyagi’s birthday (which falls on Magh Purnima every year) as public holiday in the Jammu district.
They also demanded action on the survey report of ethnographic study of J&K Batwals undertaken by the Planning Commission of India in 1994 so that steps can be taken to ameliorate living standard of the community.
