Dr Langer inspects water supply project

JAMMU, Dec 31: Chief Executive Officer, ERA/JTFRP Dr Raghav Langer here today inspected the water supply sub-project for replacement of 50 km of worn-out pipes and construction of eight Over Head Tanks in Jammu city. This sub-project has been funded under ADB Loan-II at an estimated cost of Rs. 21 crore.
CEO ERA was apprised that the scope of the sub-project comprises of construction of OHTs at various water scarcity areas in Jammu city including Channi Himmat, Delli, Nai-Basti, Gandhi Nagar, Paloura, Rajinder Nagar and Bantalab area besides replacement of 50 km of old worn out pipes with DI/HDPE pipes in Channi Rama, Channi Himmat and Sainik Colony areas.
Pertinently, the storage capacity has been augmented by 12.50 Lac Gallons with the construction of OHTs and shall benefit a population of about one lakh in Jammu urban areas.
Out of eight OHTs constructed under the scheme seven stands commissioned and the one at Baba Kailakh Nath temple premises at Bantalab shall be commissioned as soon the feeding tube-well of PHED is commissioned. The 30 km of DI/HDPE pipes have also been commissioned till date.
Dr. Langer issued strict instruction for commissioning of the balance works of pipe lines so that the benefits envisaged under the water supply scheme can be accrued by the people in water shortage areas.
The CEO was accompanied by Director ERA Jammu, Project Manager Hydraulic, Consultants and PIU filed Engineers during the site visit.
