SSP Shopian advises people not to visit encounter sites

JAMMU, Dec 31: Braving chilling cold weather, hundreds of common citizens from various corners of district Shopian emerged on the lawns of District Police Lines, Shopian for a first of its kind gathering organised by the police.
SSP Shopian Sandeep Chaudhary welcomed the citizens to the premises of DPL. He told the people that Jammu and Kashmir Police is committed to take care of its citizens and their property. Despite the challenging circumstances, he emphasised that the communication between citizens and Police should not stop.
The Citizens were encouraged to put forth their grievances in a transparent and frank manner. Most of the grievances were addressed on spot. Few of the grievances that concerned with other departments of government were taken note of and would be communicated to concerned departmental heads.
The young IPS officer dressed in his Kashmiri pheran made the people feel at home while interacting with them. He requested the people to avoid going to operation sites after the operations are over and till the premises are properly sanitised.
One elderly citizen raised the point of career counseling for youth of Shopian.
The SSP shared with the citizens his vision of starting a career counseling initiative on lines of his effort ‘Operation Dreams’ which was run successfully in Jammu city while he was posted as SP City South Jammu. He ensured the people that first career guidance seminar on this pattern will be conducted for the youth of Shopian in the month of January 2019.
