KATHUA, Dec 31: A youth was killed after a bus in which he was traveling crushed him while alighting from it at Londhi Morh in Hiranagar tehsil of Kathuia district today.
He was identified as Pardeep Singh, 28, S/O Kuldeep Singh of Khatrian, Hiranagar. Reports said that the youth had boarded a superfast bus bearing registration number JK08G 7799 at Dayala Chak and after reaching Londi Morh he asked driver to stop as he wanted to get down from the bus. The driver instead of stopping the bus lowered the speed and asked the youth to get down. As the youth was just to alight from the bus the river accelerated the speed and he was crushed by back tyre of the bus resulting in his instant death.
He was shifted to the Sub District Hospital Hiranagar where doctors declared him as brought dead.
The driver of the bus identified as Raman Kumar was arrested by Hiranagar Police and a case under Section 279/304 RPC was registered against him.
The dead body of the youth was handed over to family members after postmortem by police.
