UDHAMPUR, Jan 3: Acting on a complaint, Udhampur Police has arrested a youth for allegedly raping a woman in Panchari area of the district.
According to Police, a written complaint was received at Police Station Panchari from the victim, a resident of Kothi Laid, Lower Meer in Tehsil Panchari, who alleged that she was intercepted by the accused Rinku (30), son of Badri Nath of Pathi, Udhampur, who dragged her to a nearby jungle and raped her while she was returning home from Kaithgali. After committing rape, the accused also threatened the victim of dire consequences, if she reported the matter to police or anyone else .
Acting on the complaint, a case FIR No. 61/18 U/S 376/506 RPC was registered at Police Station Panchari and accordingly a police team of PS Panchari, led by SHO Urfaan Parvez, swung into action. Raids were conducted at some suspected locations and ultimately the accused was arrested from Pathi area of Udhampur.
