KISHTWAR, Jan 3: To create awareness among people especially youth about the drug abuse, District Police organized a district level anti-drug debate competition on “Life with Drugs or Livable Life”, here today under the chairmanship of SSP Kishtwar Rajinder Kumar Gupta.
Sixteen contestants from different parts of the district and from different educational institutions participated in the competition. Out of the 16 participants, 11 were the girl students and 5 were boys.
On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Angrez Singh Rana was the chief guest, who in his address appealed the public to desist from the drugs. He advised the parents and teachers to maintain a strict vigil on their wards and students so that they should stay away from the bad company.
He said that police and administration should not leave any stone unturned to get the district rid of drug abuse and other social evils.
The jury for the debate competition included Faisal Mushtaq Kichloo, Dr Sajid Incharge Principal DIET Kishtwar and Rajinder Singh Assistant Commandant CRPF 52 Battalion Kishtwar.
Those who secured first, second and third positions included Renum Fatima, 10th class student of SDM Public Higher Secondary School Kishtwar, Annika Thakur, 10th class of SDM Public Higher Secondary School Kishtwar and Suhani Aryan, 12th class student of Girl Higher Secondary School Kishtwar respectively.
Among others present were CO 52 Battalion CRPF, DySP Headquarters Kishtwar, DySP Operations, DySP DAR Kishtwar, police officers, teachers of various institutions, civil society members, members of social and religious organizations and NGO members.
In the end, SSP Kishtwar Rajinder Kumar Gupta presented vote of thanks.
