Chana futures slide for second day on supply pressure

NEW DELHI, Feb 1: Chana prices slided for the second day by losing Rs 22 to Rs 3,528 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators reduced their positions, triggered by supplies pressure at spot market following higher arrivals from producing regions.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in April fell by Rs 22, or 0.62 per cent, to Rs 3,528 per quintal with an open interest of 70,030 lots.
Similarly, the commodity for delivery in the May contract declined by Rs 18, or 0.50 per cent, to Rs 3,576 per quintal in 14,940 lots.
Market analysts said off-loading of positions by speculators, triggered by supply pressure at spot market following higher arrivals from producing regions mainly led to decline in chana prices at futures trade. (PTI)
