UDHAMPUR, Jan 5: National Conference (NC) Women Wing State Vice President and former MLA, Bimla Luthra today counted the initiatives, taken by her party over the past few decades to empower women.
Speaking at a day-long convention here this afternoon, Luthra specified the measures taken for improving women literacy across the State and reservation of 50 per cent seats in medical colleges for them.
On this occasion several prominent women activists joined NC.
Senior NC leader, Vijay Laxmi Dutta was the guest of honour on the occasion while District President, Sunil Verma presided over the convention.
Luthra, who was the chief guest, said due to efforts of Madr-e-Meherban Begum Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah, the women literacy had significantly gone up which enabled girls to acquire positions in the administration and related fields.
She said women have also made a significant contribution in the field of politics and have been actively participating in decision making.
Senior NC leader Vijay Laxmi elaborately dwelt upon the policies and programmes of NC and claimed this party alone can steer the State to peace, progress and development.
