JTC, Soan Kashmir discusses demands

JAMMU, Feb 1: A joint meeting of Jagti Tenement Committee and Soan Kashmir Front was held here today under the presidentship of Shadi Lal Pandita in which the problems of migrants in general and Jagti inmates in particular were highlighted.
The meeting demanded immediate covering of main holes which have become death traps in the camp, making community halls fully functional, proper utilization of abandoned sheds in the periphery of the Jagti township which have become cattle shelters and added to insanitation and pollution in the area, construction of road from Jagti to Kandoli Mata temple Nagrota, construction of 160 shops in the township, improvement of power supply and doing away with 18 hour power cuts and completion of work on 40 bedded hospital. The JTC has appealed Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Minister and Relief Commissioner to look into these problems personally. It also termed the recent hike in relief as an eye wash and demanded that the relief be increased to Rs 10,000 per family as recommended by State Government.
