JKGTF discusses demands of teaching community

KATHUA, Jan 7: Jammu Kashmir Government Teacher’s Forum (JKGTF) held a meeting here, today under the chairmanship of its State general secretary, S. Parveen Singh. The main issues discussed were, immediate release salary of teachers, masters working under RMSA, SSA as promised by the Governor’s administration that they will get benefits of the 7th Pay Commission from September 2018, discrimination with teachers for the salary of one month of election duty, removal of pay anomalies of master grade, promotion for all cadres, adjustment of ZEO’s and head masters and stopping of deployment of teachers for other duties.
Speaking in the meeting chairman of the Forum, Amarnath Thakur said that suggestion given by Teacher’s Forum at district, State and Center level are always ignored and self-agenda is imposed by the administration so nothing concrete is found on the ground in Education Department.
S. Parveen Singh, State general secretary of JKGTF questioned the Education Department about its non-seriousness over the issues of the salaries of RMSA and SSA. “The teachers condition is going from bad to worst day by day as they are without salary for the last several months”.
Surjeet Singh Jasrotia, district president highlighted the issue of the salary of one month for election duty. He said that there is discrimination among teachers deployed for election duty. A big confusion is created by the clerical cadres for RMSA and SSA teachers to get the additional salary for election duty. All the speakers expressed concern over the issue and appealed the education authorities to make clear directions and stop disparities among teachers regarding salary of election duty. Those who attended the meeting were Jagdish Chander, Devinder Singh, Des Raj, Rafiq Ahmed, Rajesh Kumar, Jagdish Singh, Tarsem Lal, Kali Das, Rajiv Sharma, Jaswant Singh and others.
