UDHAMPUR, Jan 9: Udhampur Police today arrested two narcotic smugglers from Jakhani area and seized around 13 kg of charas from their possession.
The narcotic smugglers, identified as Gohar Khanday, son of Mohd Ramzan Khanday of Mastpur Killar, Shopian and Ab Qayoom Khanday, son of Ali Mohd Khanday of Gulab Tang Killar, Shopian were smuggling the contraband in Tata Indigo MH02AY-8677.
The vehicle was intercepted by a Police party, led Zahid Saif Wani, DySP Hqrs Udhampur and assisted by Inspector Sanjeev Singh Chib, SHO Udhampur, Inspector Paramjeet Singh, SHO Rehmbal and SI Vishav Partap Singh, during a naka on the National Highway at Jakhani.
During the checking, 12.96 kg of Charas was recovered from the said vehicle, which was also seized.
In this connection, a case FIR number 12/2019 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur and further investigation of the case is taken up.
