“I want to tell Deputy Mayor that he has been chosen to carry developmental works including roads, electricity and water. He has been given mandate by the people to fulfill their needs and not to involve in the international politics. The Deputy Mayor is acting as puppet of congress leaders as he has been supported by the defeated Congress leaders,” he said.
While praising BJP Government, Thakur said the local body elections were held by the BJP after 17 years here. “He is calling BJP as communalist party who conducted Municipal elections here after 17 years and gave opportunity to him to serve the people. He is deviated from his actual work and trying to befool people. He should first check whether developmental works are going on in his areas or not. If development, conducting of elections in a democratic set up and releasing the funds for the betterment of the people is communalism, then I will proudly say that I am communalist,” he said, adding, “Whatever is in between Mayor and Deputy Mayor, we appeal both of them to stop accusing each other and focus on developmental works.”
In reaction to the BJP presser, Deputy Mayor Srinagar, Sheikh Imran while addressing the media persons said that they should stop giving statements from their rooms and should come on ground level to see what their position is.
“I am not the part of BJP, I know my work and I am doing it. They should stop addressing press in high security rooms and come on roads like me. I am the part of this society and know my people. Doing politics in the shade of development is unacceptable. The members of the BJP should come on roads and join me for the talks. I am not BJP or neither will be in future,” he said.
