SED provides career guidance, counseling to 25000 students

JAMMU, Jan 9: In its endeavors to extend guidance to students, the School Education Department (SED) provided career guidance and counseling sessions to approximately 25,000 students of various Government schools of Jammu division in the month of November and December.
The sessions were conducted under the supervision of Secretary School Education Ajeet Kumar Sahu and Director School Education Jammu, Anuradha Gupta.
According to a report of the counseling cell DSEJ, various career related topics like choice of subjects after 10th, careers after 12th, careers in arts, science, commerce, Prime Minister Special Scholarship Scheme, vocational courses after 10th and 12th, etc. were covered during these sessions by the teaching faculty of the schools and DIETs working in counseling cells constituted at different levels.
Besides, the counseling cell DSEJ coordinated these sessions through the cells constituted at DIETs and Higher Secondary Schools. This career awareness campaign has also been complemented by career guidance sessions by different experts from Janan Prabodhini a Pune based NGO through Jammu and Kashmir Knowledge Network(JKKN) benefitting more than 10,000 students.
Pertinently, the plans are underway to professionalize and institutionalize guidance and counseling services in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
