Porbandar residents take out candle light march in support of KPs demands

PORBANDAR (Gujarat), Feb 3: Hundreds of the residents of Porbandar today organised a massive candle light peace march in support of All Parties Migrants Coordination Committee (APMCC) and its Chairman Vinod Pandit who is sitting on fast unto death here for the last five days in support of 6-point Charter of demands of Kashmiri Pandits.
The massive candle light peace march which began from Sudhama Chowk and after passing through various bazaars culminated at Chopati was organised under the leadership of Ram Dasa, coordinator Porbandar and attended by hundreds of activists and leaders of social, religious, business, political organisations and Mahila Morcha activists.
“The peace march was a big morale booster for us where massive support is pouring in from all directions since we began the agitation”, said King C Bharati, national spokesperson of APMCC on the side lines of the peace march.
“We are thankful to the people of Porbandar who have extended all possible help to us here and also organised various campaigns to highlight the issue”, Sunil Kumar Trakroo and Sandeep Bhat senior leaders of APMCC added.
Bharati informed that such candle light protest demonstrations were organised by the supporters of APMCC at Maharashtra, Karnataka, Delhi, Chandigarh, Phagwara and Jammu besides KSD president Rakesh Kaul and Lok Jan Shakti Party Youth Wing National president Sanjay Saraf, to show solidarity with team APMCC camping at Porbandar.
Dasa threatened that the activists may resort to extreme steps if immediate steps to resolve the crisis are not taken, adding parallel chain hunger strike by other members of the APMCC will also start from tomorrow.
Dasa said that the social and religious organisations have planned to organise many more such protests if the Union Government and J&K Government remain silent.
The APMCC is demanding dialogue with Pakistan for facilitating visit to Shardha Peeth Temple in PoK, establishment of Shardha Peeth University in J&K, probe into the multi-crore temple/shrines land encroachment in Kashmir, passing of the pending Kashmir Temples and Shrines Bill in Legislative Assembly, one time compensation for over-aged Migrant Kashmiri Hindu Youth, special employment package for Non-Migrant Hindus of Kashmir valley.
At Jammu a torch light procession was organized by activists of APMCC, ASKPC, KPC, KP Youth Forum etc in front of Raj Bhawan here in support of Mr Pandita’s charter of demands.
The protestors led by ASKPC chief H L Chatta, KPC president Kundan Kashmiri, Sanjay Raina youth leader and Omesh Raina and submitted a memorandum to Governor at Raj Bhawan.
Talking to reporters Chatta and Kashmiri accused the Union as well as State Government of their total failure in settling the KPs issues. Both the Central and State Government’s criminal silence on problems of KPs leading an exiled life has forced the community to launch a nation-wide movement, they added.
