Govt orders uniform rate in hospitals

JAMMU, Jan 17: Government today accorded sanction to implementation of uniform rate structure for 72 diagnostic services in all the health institutions under the administrative control of Director Health services, Jammu/Kashmir.
The decision came after the Health and Medical Education Department received numerous complaints that the different Government health institutions of the State are charging different rates for carrying out same investigations/procedures.
Acting on the complaints of the public, the Department on August 9, 2018 had issued a circular enjoining upon all health institutions of the State to strictly follow the rate structure being in force at SMHS Hospital, Srinagar, till further orders.
Keeping in view the gravity of the matter, the Department also constituted a committee on August 16, 2018 to finalize rate structure of various investigations/diagnostic services for health institutions of the State and as a follow up, Government today notified rate structure of 72 diagnostic services to be implemented uniformly in all the health institutions of the State. According to the order issued today by Health and Medical Education Department, 13 diagnostic services (out of the 72) will be provided free of cost in all the health institutions. These services are Blood Sugar (Glucose), blood Sugar (F & PP), Sr Bilurobin (Total), Sr Bilurobin (Direct), BT+ CT, Haemoglobin (Hb), TLC+ DLC, Blood Grouping, HIV Card Method, HIV ELISA, Urine Examination (Routine), Semen Analysis and Stool Examination.
“However, the left out investigations shall be carried out strictly as per the rate structure being followed in SMHS Hospital Srinagar/SMGS Hospital, Jammu, as the case may be, till further orders,” the Government Order said.
