JAMMU, Jan 19: Convener, MJR-47, J S Sudan has said that right from the day the DPs of 1947 from PoJK had been forced to migrate to this part of State, all the Govt dispensations, since then have shown discriminatory attitude towards this community depriving them of proper relief and rehabilitation and ultimate justice for the past seven decades.
“Even after legitimization of our claims by State Govt in October, 2014 and Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs in December 2014 making various recommendations for relief and rehabilitation, the Govt did not do justice to DPs by settling their right claims,” Sudan in a statement said.
“Contrary to these recommendations the Central Govt sanctioned Rs 2000 crore which works out to Rs 5.5 lakh per family as per count as registered immediately after migration in 1947 against the Rs 25 lakh and Rs 30 lakh as recommended by State Govt and DRPSC on Home Affairs. The cash hardly comes to a few thousand per family as each family has grown to 4-5 times in the last seven decades, without any action on series of other recommendations,” the Refugee leader said.
He said the State Govt for quite some time had been working on reservations to “Pahari” people in the state. “We DPs of 1947 have been pleading to be included in this category being true Pahari people belonging to mountainous areas of Muzaffrabad, Mirpur, Bagh and Poonch living there since generations and still awaiting for rehabilitation in the same refugee camps where we were sheltered since 1947.”
The MJR-47 has urged upon the present Govt to include the DPs of 1947 from PoJK in this reservations being truly Pahari people living in the State and still awaiting final settlement.
