Vijaypur police rescues 5 bovines, seizes vehicle

SAMBA , Jan 22: District police Samba under the overall supervision of Dr. Koshal Sharma, SSP Samba succeeded in foiling bovine smuggling bid in the jurisdiction of Police Station, Vijaypur by rescuing five bovines today.
Acting on reliable information received at Police Station Vijaypur that bovine animals are being smuggled towards Srinagar, a police team of Police Station Vijaypur headed by Inspector, Rajinder Sharma, SHO Vijaypur under the supervision of S. Baljeet Singh, SDPO Vijaypur laid a surprise Naka at Ramgarh road, Vijaypur and signaled a Tata Mobile vehicle bearing registration number JK02CA-5032 to stop, which was coming from Kathua side via border road.
The driver on seeing the police party accelerated the vehicle. As a result of which the driver lost his control and the vehicle skidded off in the ditch at Rakh Barotian, Vijaypur.
During checking of the vehicle five cattle were found laden in it. All the cattle were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines without any permission was seized on spot. In this regard, a case FIR No. 11/2019 U/S 279/188 RPC, 3 PCA Act stands registered at P/S Vijaypur and investigation started.
