Truck operators protest against Forest Deptt

KATHUA, Jan 23: The truck operators drawn from different states carrying the wooden materials held a protest demonstration against the Forest Department at Lakhanpur near here, today. They raised the slogans against Forest Department and highlighted their demands.
The truck operators alleged that the Forest Department is not giving clearance to them for entry in the State as they are loaded with wooden material. They said that they have been waiting for last five to six days for clearance but Forest Department did not make any alternative arrangements to give them clearance.
The Forest employees are on strike and truck operators are paying price of it. They also met with Forest Range Officer, Lakhanpur and highlighted their grievances but did not get any positive response so far. More than 50 trucks are so far stranded at Gateway of J&K State Lakhanpur since last four to five days for clearance.
The truck driver Balkar Singh said that they have wooden materials loaded from Gujarat and truck is stranded at Lakhanpur since last five days. They have spend all money for daily food and are out of pocket now. The Forest Department did pay heed to their problem. They asked the Government to make alternative arrangements to clear the truck.
