Bodies of 2 hunters missing after snow avalanche in Kupwara recovered

SRINAGAR, Jan 24: Bodies of two hunters who were buried alive under a huge snow avalanche on Wednesday in the woods in the frontier district of Kupwara were recovered today, official source said
They said three local residents had gone for hunting in Rang Warnow, Lolab, forest in the north Kashmir Kupwara early Wednesday morning.
However, in the evening one of them, who had a miraculous escape, returned and informed police in the village that there was a snow avalanche in the area when they were moving in the forest.
He informed the police and villagers that two persons Bashir Ahmad Hajam and Mamdeen Hajam went missing after the snow avalanche. With the first light this morning a massive search operation was launched despite fresh snowfall by Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and state police personnel.
However, after a long searches in the snow bound area, the bodies were recovered, they said. Last year three hunter died after they were buried under huge snow avalanche on February 24 at Behak, Lolab, in Kupwara.
There bodies were recovered after about a week. (AGENCIES)
