JAMMU, Jan 25: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today claimed that PDP-BJP combine pushed J&K into an atmosphere of “conflict and controversies” over the issues of religious and regional sentiments.
He cautioned the people to “remain vigilant” about the designs of communal and divisive forces in the State and appealed people to defeat every attempt to disturb the traditional harmony and religious brotherhood.
While addressing people of Gandhi Nagar constituency here today, Bhalla expressed serious concern over the prevailing “atmosphere” and blamed previous coalition partners for the current situation. He urged the people and the secular forces not to allow the evil designs of communal and divisive forces to succeed in Jammu and Kashmir. He urged the workers to work hard and strengthen the Party further from grass root level.
Bhalla appealed the people to rise to the occasion to defeat the exploitative and divisive politics of BJP and other forces in the State, which are desperate enough for power. He cautioned that such forces could go to any extent to mislead people on different counts for electoral gains, but we need to counter and defeat them miserably in the larger interests of the people both in the country and State.
Bhalla said the ruling dispensation at Centre and previous regime in the State have done enough damage to the peace and development of the country especially in J&K State, resulting in deep alienation among the people, who feel betrayed and cheated by the previous PDP-BJP coalition.
Congress leader said that PDP-BJP combine cannot escape the responsibility of damages caused to peace process, as both the parties have exploited people for power and are responsible for restlessness and mistrust among the people. He said Congress party will ensure that the authority of democratic institutions is not eroded, although the ousted dispensation has already done great damages.
