JAMMU, Jan 25: National Conference Provincial President Devender Singh Rana today made a passionate appeal to Governor Satya Pal Malik for arranging airlifting of Kashmir and other snow bound areas’ passengers stranded in Jammu due to continuous closure of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway following landslides, avalanches and heavy snowfall.
On the instructions of National Conference vice president Omar Aabdullah, a team of party leaders, led by Rana visited the Jammu Bus Stand and the Chanderbagha Complex and met the stranded of passengers.
“The stranded people are facing enormous difficulties in Jammu and it is time that the issue is raised with all concerned for having special flights and Dakota services to the Valley”, Rana said after visiting the stranded passengers.
Besides taking up the issue with the Raj Bhavan, the Provincial President also spoke to Advisor to Governor Khursheed Ahmed Ganai and Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Sanjeev Verma and called for synergized efforts in airlifting of the stranded passengers besides taking all necessary measure to ensure their boarding and lodging here with special focus on medicare facilities. He expressed concern over the plight of the stranded people in the winter capital, which include old and children also.
Rana, accompanied by National Conference leaders, assured all possible help to the people lodged at Chanderbagha besides those at the Bus Stand and spoke about arrangements made to officers concerned charged with the responsibility of their stay. He said other shelter places were needed to be identified for placing all those facing the lodging facilities.
The Provincial president was accompanied by National Conference leaders Rattan Lal Gupta, Trilochan Singh Wazir, Anil Dhar, Surinder Singh Bunty, Dharamveer Singh Jamwal, Chander Mohan Sharma, Sanjay Gupta, Ravi Dogra, Dalbeer Singh and Kuldeep Kumar.
