Srinagar, Jan 25: A day ahead of the Republic Day, militants today carried out several grenade attacks on security forces in various places in the Kashmir valley.
A policeman and a civilian were injured after militants lobbed a grenade on Police Post near Bus Stand in Anantnag town of South Kashmir today.
Militants lobbed a grenade towards the Police Post. A policeman and a civilian Abid Hussain were injured in the attack and have been taken to district hospital Anantnag. The injured cop was identified as constable Sajad Ahmad.
They carried another grenade attack on Police Station Srigufwara but its nature could not be ascertained immediately. However, Police denied such attack.
Militants also hurled a grenade on CRPF bunker in Sopore town of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district this evening. Militants lobbed the grenade towards the bunker of CPRF’s 179th battalion. The device, however, missed the target and exploded on the roadside.
Militants lobbed a grenade towards Tahab camp in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district this evening. It exploded outside the gate of the camp. Security forces retaliated by firing in air.
Meanwhile, a petrol bomb was hurled on SSB 14th battalion camp at Mehjoornagar Bund Srinagar which exploded inside the camp. However, there was no loss of life or injury.
Militants hurled a petrol bomb at CRPF vehicle of 25th battalion near Iqbal Park, Lal Mandi crossing. However, there was no loss of life in the attack.
Militants fired few shots upon 180th battalion of CRPF camp at Midoora, Awantipora.
