Various political parties celebrate R-Day

JAMMU, Jan 27: Various political parties organized functions in connection with the 70th Republic Day celebrations across the State.
J&K BJP Unit celebrated Republic Day with great enthusiasm and patriotism in a function held at Party office, Trikuta Nagar today. The function commenced with the hoisting of national flag by State president of the party, Ravinder Raina along with MPs, Jugal Kishore Sharma & Shamsher Singh, State vice-presidents Harinder Gupta, Parmod Kapahi, Narain Singh, Ghulam Ali Khatana, State general secretary (Org.) Ashok Kaul, State general secretary Yudhvir Sethi, former Dy CM Kavinder Gupta, former Minister Sat Sharma and other senior leaders.
While addressing the enthusiastic leaders and activists, Raina congratulated them on the occasion of Republic Day. He said that this is just not a routine affair, but a matter of great pride and joy for every Indian as on this day the Nation adopted its Constitution giving the true recognition of the powers of a common man. He said that this day has enabled every person from very remote or poor background, from any sex, region or religion to enjoy equal powers in the greatest democracy of the world.
Jugal Kishore said that we must follow our great leaders who gave their lives so that we can breathe in the Independent India. He said that we are enjoying all the facilities of life due to the contributions of the great persons and we must not forget their supreme sacrifices, while prompting our generations to study their life and works.
State secretaries Aseem Gupta, Sanjay Baru, Rajinder Sharma, Praduman Singh, Ajay Pargal, Munish Sharma, Kulbhushan Mohtra, Suresh Sharma, Tilak Raj Gupta, Dr Pardeep Mahotra, Baldev Billawaria, Ayodhya Gupta and others were among the prominent leaders present on the occasion.
In a function at party office, Kachi Chawni , “Tiranga” was unfurled by Ravinder Raina along with MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, Ashok Kaul, former MLA Rajesh Gupta, Praduman Singh, Dr Pardeep Mahotra, Sanjita Dogra, Baldev Billawaria, Ayodhya Gupta, Veena Gupta and others.
Extending greetings to the people on the Republic Day, former Minister Chander Prakash Ganga, today made a fervent appeal to all especially youth to reaffirm commitment towards equality among all the citizens.
While speaking at a function held to commemorate Republic day celebration at Badi Panchayat, Bari Brahmana, Ganga exhorted youth to work earnestly towards making our Nation the strongest in the world as we have got independence after several years of struggle and sacrifices of thousands of lives of our freedom fighters. He unfurled the tri-colour.
BJP MLC, Vikram Randhawa hoisted national flag at various places in Gandhinagar area to mark the Republic Day celebrations. He also addressed gatherings at Narwal Bala, Preet Nagar, Model Town Gangayal, Channi Himmat, Channi Rama and Beli Charana. Sweets were also distributed among the people.
Congress celebrates 70th Republic Day at party headquarters Jammu in which PCC chief GA Mir hoisted the national flag in presence of senior leaders and large number of Congress workers.
PCC vice president Raman Bhalla and Mohd Sharief Niaz (Former ministers), senior leaders Kanta Bhan, Ravinder Sharma, Rajnish Sharma, Shah Mohd Choudhary, Shabir Ahmed Khan, KK Pangotra, Indu Pawar (Ex-MLA), Seva Dal chief Rajesh Sadotra, PYC president Uday Bhanu Chib, Hari Singh Chib, Zahida Khan and many others functionaries and Corporators were present. They sung the National Anthem to mark the celebrations.
Addressing the gathering PCC chief recalled the struggle and sacrifices of countrymen under banner of Indian National Congress during freedom struggle led by great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru, Sardar Patel, Maulana Azad, Netaji Subash Chander Bose, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev other stalwarts of freedom movement.
He said that freedom was achieved with great sacrifices and sufferings of countless countrymen. The present generations owes a responsibility to the forefathers and to the nation and future generations to safeguard the hard earned freedom and democracy in this country.
In Srinagar, similar function was organised at party office where senior party leaders hoisted national flag and exchanged greetings. A large number of party workers were also present. The speakers recalled the services of great Congress leaders and other freedom fighters for their supreme sacrifices.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included – Irfan Naqib, Zahid Hussain Jan, Abdul Gani Khan, Dr Sayed Ahmed, GA Gujree, Autar Singh and others.
At Bishnah, the function was held under the leadership of MK Bhardwaj, where many BCC functionaries and others took part. After flag hoisting ceremony many speakers addressed the gathering. The sweets were also distributed on the occasion.
At Dogra Chowk, Hiranagar former MLC and senior party leader Subhash Gupta unfurled national flag. The participants sung National Anthem and sweets were distributed to mark the celebrations. Yugal Kishore Bali, Anant Ram Doagra, Parveen Kumar Bhagat, Ajeet Kumar and several others were also present.
At Ploura in Jammu, senior Congress leader Thakur Hishiyar Singh unfurled tricolor near Jaggi Darbar. A large number of BCC functionaries and locals of the area participated in the celebrations.
INTUC unit Udhampur also organized flag hoisting ceremony under the leadership of district president Som Nath at PHE Station, Barrian. A large number of Trade unionists/ INTUC members were present. SE, PHE, KK Badyal unfurled the flag along with INTUC Distt unit president, Som Nath.
Former MP Ch Lal Singh, Ex-MLA Kanta Andotra, Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, Maj Genl NS Jamwal, Brig JR Sharma, former Vice Chancellor and Ex- MLC YR Sharma, Col JP Singh Chairman Ex Servicemen Cell of DSS today hoisted the National Flag at headquarter of Dogra Swabhimaan Sangathan at 10 D/C Gandhi Nagar Jammu. The program started with the arrival of the chief guest and the flag was hoisted by Ch Lal Singh. National anthem was sung and a salute was given to the National flag and to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the Nation.
While remembering the heroes who fought for the Independence of the country, Ch Lal Singh said that it’s the high time that all Dogras should take inspiration from them and must unite to fight against the Kashmir hegemony and ensure justice to the people of Jammu region. It’s only due to the people of Jammu region and their commitment with the nation that Jammu and Kashmir is the part of India. He regretted that the successive governments in the Centre always ignored the interests of the Dogras due to which National Flag is honoured in the State.
National Conference, provincial president, Devender Singh Rana stressed the need for preserving and promoting secular ethos, saying unity in diversity is biggest strength of the nation.
Unfurling tricolour on the Republic Day at party office here this morning, Rana exhorted people to maintain harmony and strive for peace and unity. He greeted the people on this auspicious occasion and hoped that they will work for strengthening the bonds of amity and tranquility.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included former ministers Surjeet Singh Slathia and Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, former legislators and senior functionaries Rattan Lal Gupta, Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Brij Mohan Sharma, Dr Chaman Lal Bhagat, Bimla Luthra, Swarn Latta, Haji Mohd Hussain, Vijay Laxami Dutta, S. Gurdeep Singh Sasan, Satwant Kour Dogra, SS Bunty, Ch Haroon, Dharamveer Singh Jamwal, Chander Mohan Sharma and Pardeep Bali.
PDP Jammu unit also celebrated Republic Day by hoisting national flag at Party office Gandhinagar, Jammu. The party general secretary, FC Bhagat unfurled the national flag. Prominent among others present on the occasion included- R K Bali, Fallail Singh, Surjeet Kour, Amrik Singh Reen, SP Charak, Rafiq Malik, Jasmeet Kour and Ashok Jogi.
NPP also celebrated Republic Day across the region. At Jammu office of the party, the national flag was hoisted by party general secretary Anita Thakur in presence of other party functionaries, Capt Anil Gour, Paramjeet Singh Marshal, Ravinder Jamwal, Parshotam Parihar and others.
NCP state unit led by former minister and president J&K unit of the party, Thakur Randhir Singh also hoisted tri-colour at party office to mark the occasion. Besides Mr Singh, several party functionaries were also present on the occasion. The sweets were also distributed among the gathering.
National Democratic Party (NDP) also celebrated the Republic Day with enthusiasm at Party office, BC Road here today. Party president, Ravi Bakshi along with several other party functionaries unfurled the national flag. Sweets were also distributed among the people gathered there on the occasion.
Janata Dal (Secular) state unit chief, Mast Nath Yogi hoisted the National flag at party office Raghunath Bazar here today. The other party leaders/ members also witnessed the occasion. The gathering also paid tributes to Dr BR Ambedkar, father of the Constitution. Working president, S Kulbir Singh, acting president Sanjay Bargotra, RR Sharma and ML Bhat were also president on the occasion.
