SRINAGAR, Jan 28: State Taxes Department has recovered Rs 6.30 lakh as penalty from defaulters.
As per official spokesman, the enforcement team led by Additional Commissioner, State Taxes (Administration & Enforcement) Kashmir, Manzoor Ahmad Bhat under the instructions of Commissioner State Taxes, J&K, PK Bhat conducted an extensive inspection of business units at North Srinagar mainly comprising areas of Sheltang, Maloora and adjacent areas.
The main Business Units of the area were inspected and sales records of some of the units were seized for scrutiny in view of noticing some suspicious tendencies of evasion of tax, spokesman said, adding the sales records of M/s Bagdadi Bakers, M/s Raheek Sales Corporation, M/s Raheek Multinational and M/s North Kashmir Sales were seized.
The inspection team also seized five computer laptops, besides, the business related malafide accounting software, he said, adding that an amount of Rs 6.30 lakh as tax, interest and penalty has also been realized from defaulting dealers.
The inspecting team included State Tax Officers namely Mohammad Muneer Bhat, Majeed ul Islam, Syed Faheem Bahaqi, Ovais Mushtaq, Dr Irfan Ali Khan, Abdul Raouf Shah and Khalid Mohammad Chesti, along with Inspectors and other officials of the Department.
“All the business establishments inspected were exhorted to implement the GST Laws in letter and spirit to further avoid initiation of penalty proceedings against them. The response of the traders and General public to the team was conducive and warming”, the official spokesman added.
