JAMMU, Jan 29: An unidentified man was found dead late last night in Gharota area of city outskirts.
“The dead body of an unidentified man with injuries on his face and head was found lying in the centre of Bantalab-Gharota Road near Kangar Morh in Bhalwal area falling under the jurisdiction of police station Gharota,” a police official said.
He said the body was spotted by a passerby who informed the police. The official said the body has been shifted to mortuary room of Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for identification/postmortem while inquest proceedings in this connection were initiated at police station Gharota.
“Prima facie it appears that someone had thrown the body there after killing the man,” he said, adding, it will be cleared after postmortem and identification of the deceased. He said the deceased is about 35-years-old, dark in complexion and was wearing grey colour shirt and navy blue colour lower. The thumb of right hand of the man is also amputated, he added.
“Any information about identity or residential particulars of the deceased may be communicated to police station Gharota, police post GMC Jammu and PCR Jammu,” he further added.
