Rare facial corrective surgery performed at Narayana Hospital

KAKRYAL (KATRA), Feb 5: The Cranio Maxillofacial surgical team at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Kakryal recently performed a rare kind of facial asymmetric correction surgery successfully.
The surgical team was led by Dr Arjun Malhotra, Consultant, Cranio Maxillofacial Surgeon. The patient, a 26 years old male was suffering from facial disfigurement due to an injury sustained in an accident 6 months back. He was diagnosed with masseter muscle hypertrophy and increase in the angle of mandible projector leading to a square face deformity. A 4-hour sustained surgery was performed with an excellent outcome.
Dr Arjun Malhotra informed that such kinds of deformities are very rare and the surgery performed to correct this type of facial disfigurement is one-of-a-kind in the region.
Dr (Brig) Man Mohan Harjai, Chief Administrative Officer of the SMVDNSH stated that Department of Cranio Facial Surgery of this hospital is well equipped with all the latest armamentarium to deal profile correction Jaw Joint dysfunction, Jaw cysts & Tumours, Facial Trauma and Cleft lip palate surgeries.
He further added that the Cranio Maxillofacial surgical team was an integral part during the management of mass causalities in Siar Baba landslide incident and during matador accident near Domail.
