Dogri version of ‘Constitution of India’ released

JAMMU, Feb 5: Terming Dogri as pride of the State and nation, Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu called for more initiatives for propogating and popularising Dogri language.
Dhar was speaking at a function here today after releasing the Dogri version of ‘Constitution of India’. The Vice Chancellor appreciated the sincere and dedicated efforts of the project team comprising Prof. (Dr.) Archana Kesar, Department of Dogri; Prakash Premi, Yash Pal Nirmal and Nirmal Vikram, Dogri writers and translators under the guidance of Legal Expert, Prof. (Dr.) Arvind Jasrotia from the Department of Law, University of Jammu.
It is pertinent to mention that this is the first Dogri edition of ‘Constitution of India’.
The text of ‘Constitution of India’ given in this edition, incorporates all amendments up to Constitution (103rd Amendment) Act, 2019.
The present edition of ‘Constitution of India’ is being published by the Legislative Department (Official Languages Wing), Ministry of Law and Justice, New Delhi as part of the implementation of the decision of the Central Government to make available the ‘Constitution of India’ and other Central Laws to the general public in their own language.
With inclusion of Dogri language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution, a need was felt to translate the Constitution of India in Dogri language for the benefit of people of J&K and the project team was constituted to accomplish the objective.
Among others, Dr Meenakshi Kilam, Registrar, University of Jammu and Dr Dharmindra Magotra were also present on the occasion.
