NEW DELHI: In a clear signal that the Congress party is at the forefront in Uttar Pradesh , party’s newly appointed general secretary in-charge of Uttar Pradesh (East) Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday took charge at AICC headquarters after dropping her businessman husband Robert Vadra at Enforcement Directorate office, where he was summoned to join investigation in a money laundering case.
Priyanka, who is considered to be Congress’s best political challenge to the rival parties was appointed as general secretary in-charge of UP (East), which has 43 constituencies, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Varanasi and Gorakhpur-the political bastion of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath , on January 23, in a surprise move.
Ms Vadra took charge of the post two weeks after she was appointed by her brother and Congress president Rahul Gandhi for a crucial battle in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. (AGENCIES)
