JAMMU, Feb 7: Demanding immediate restoration of reservation in promotion and implementation of the Mandal Commission in J&K, the State unit of All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organisations has threatened protests from February 10.
Addressing a press conference, here today, R K Kalsotra, State president of the Confederation highlighted the demands and lamented that no action was taken on their issues despite various memorandums to Governor Satya Paul Malik in this regard.
“The Confederations has unanimously decided to assemble at Ambedkar Chowk, Rail Head Jammu on February 10 at 12 noon to protest and demand from Governor to immediately accept our demands, which include restoration of Reservation in Promotions, clearance of backlog vacancies in recruitment and promotions, share in Adhoc/Conractual/CP Workers/Need Basis/Daily Wagers, reservation to OBCs from 2 percent to 27 percent and deletion of word OSC (Other Social Caste), appointment of one Advisor from SC Category, providing representation to Officers/Official in postings, etc,” he said.
Kalsotra also demanded creation of shelter homes for landless SC/ST/OBCs/nomadic population, allocation of SCP/STP, creation of at least two Model Police Station in the capital cities for dealing with crimes against SC/ST/OBCs under the direct control of Commission of SC/ST/OBCs, empowerment of Wattal/ Safaikarmcharis, replacing manual work by the machine/equipment and paying extra salary to such persons engaged in menial work and granting all national holidays to them. He further demanded that all Universities located in J&K may be directed to implement Reservation Rules, SC/ST/OBC members be appointed proportionately in the Statutory bodies and Commissions like SSB, State Accountability Commission, Statutory Boards and withdrawal of 13 point roster by 200 point roster in Colleges/Universities.
Those who flanked Kalsotra in the press conference, included Ch Mushtaq Badgami, State vice president, Amar Nath Bhagat, Mohinder Kumar, Sham Bhasin, Ashwani Kumar Bhagat, Manjoor Khattana, Tilak Raj and Shashi Kumar.
