JAMMU, Feb 9: Activists of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena here today under the leadership of their president Ashok Gupta staged a protest demonstration demanding regional council for Jammu.
Addressing the protesters, Gupta said that people of Jammu have to fight for each and everything and to end this culture Jammu should have a separate regional council.
The Shiv Sena leader quoted the data of five-year plans from 1992 to 2007 to say that Jammu got only Rs 700 crore against 916 crore received by Kashmir during the period.
He expressed concern over the declining share of Jammu region in jobs and said people have lost faith in State’s recruitment agencies.
Gupta further said that demand for a separate Public Service Commission for Jammu is gaining momentum these days.
“The concept of the regional council with separates service cadre could take care of the issue of fair recruitment,” he maintained.
Shiv Sena leader also said that the way Ladakh has been given its right, Jammu should also be given its own council.
He also quoted the report of interlocutors published in 2012 to say that it (report) had a very clear mention for a regional council with immediate effect.
“Surprisingly the Governments didn’t did anything and the report was piled up in dust,” Gupta said.
